Leap and the Net will Appear

You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.

R. Buckminster Fuller

If you seriously want to make a difference, you are going to have challenge everything around you, question the concept of โ€œnormalityโ€, reinvent the model, make yourself obsolete, and then reinvent yourself and repeat.

There is a Zen proverb that states โ€œLeap and the net will appearโ€. I have made several leaps, and sometimes even landed on both feet. Despite the anxiety of leaping, I would not trade it for anything in the world.

Some of the most my important projects, and some of the most significant ways I have made a difference, have been based on the idea of leaping and throwing away the model and trying something new. The sheer joy of landing somewhere new makes it all worthwhile
